Foreword

The Château Bel-Air is located in Belvès de Castillon, near Castillon La Bataille, east of Saint Emilion. The property is located on the site of a chapel which was a resting place for pilgrims en route to Santiago de Compostela. This site enjoys exceptional views of the estate and its vineyards. The origins of this château go back to 1672. The noble house of Bel-Air belonged to a certain Jean Dupoujet, an equerry of King Louis XVIII

Terroir

The château belonged to the Saint-Emilion appellation up to the early 1930’s as its soil was similar to that of Saint-Emilion: very stony clay-limestone, with flint and well-drained, ensuring a regular maturation of the grape, even during drought weather. The wine of Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux benefits from a privileged geographical situation with a southern exposure and an altitude difference of more than 100 meters. Graveleux close to the Dordogne river, the clay soils at the foot of hills make Castillon a land of exception.
